The National University of Ireland Maynooth is situated in the lively and picturesque university town of Maynooth. Located 22km from Dublin, the historic and beautiful campus is home to over 8,000 students who enjoy a lively contrast of fine historical buildings blended with state of the art research and teaching infrastructure. An international student population from over 50 countries provides a stimulating but intimate and friendly atmosphere to the campus, thanks in large part to the unique location. With an established reputation for excellence in research and teaching, the University has seen a decade of unprecedented growth in first preference ratings for undergraduate and post graduate courses. NUI Maynooth has grown and expanded, extending its links through innovative joint-ventures with its high-tech, multi-national corporate neighbours. The University provides a welcoming and supportive environment for its students and staff and continues to be a dynamic force for cultural, social and economic development in Ireland and beyond.
The recently adopted University Strategic Plan 2006-2011 sets out an ambitious programme that will build on the efforts of the last decade, which were highly acclaimed in 2005 by an international review panel of the European Universities Association, and also enable NUI Maynooth to take on the challenging agenda set by the Irish Government for the Higher Education sector which will require a significant transformation of undergraduate education and the development of an internationally competitive Fourth level (graduate level) sector.
