Department of Public Expenditure & Reform / Civil Service
I started working in the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform in September 2017 after completing an MA (Honours) in Politics and International Relations at the University of Aberdeen and an MSc (Research) in Public Policy and Administration at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
What we do
Working in the Expenditure Reform Unit, within the Expenditure Policy and Reporting Division, has been very rewarding. My role involves work around budgeting in government departments, as well as working on other budgetary reform initiatives. My key duties have included the co-ordination and writing of reports, policy analysis, and engagement with stakeholders.
Learning and Development
I’ve found the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform a place that welcomes diverse skills, experience and abilities. It is a great place to develop your potential. Working as an Administrative Officer, within the department, has provided opportunities for learning and development and I have availed of these, including the Civil Service Graduate Development Programme and the Advanced Certificate in Public Expenditure Management. It is also great that the Department has fostered a sense of community with a busy calendar of social, sporting and educational activities.
