Department of Public Expenditure & Reform / Civil Service
I completed my undergraduate in Economics, Politics and Law in Dublin City University. Following this, I completed my postgraduate in Economics in University College Cork. During my time in university, I developed a keen interest in economics and economic policy.
I was attracted to the Civil Service because it offered me the opportunity to shape and contribute to economic policy. This keen interest prompted me to apply for an Economist AO position in the Civil Service. I was fortunate enough to be assigned to the Central Expenditure Management and Policy Division in the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform in April 2018.
The AO role has been a rewarding experience. I was given opportunities and responsibilities from my first day. In a short space of time, I have been involved in numerous projects and tasks. I have also had the opportunity to contribute to economic research and, I have also assisted in the management of the Spending Review and have been involved in formulating policy with management at a senior level.
