Mental Health Awareness

As the leading recruiter for the Public Service, supports Mental Health Awareness Day.

World Mental Health Day takes place on Thursday, the 10th of October. The day is about education and raising awareness of mental health. It is an opportunity to build partnerships in communities in support of positive mental health.

In support of Mental Health
Awareness Day, we have hosted an information session in partnership with the Rehab Group for our staff.
The session covered:

  • Understanding mental health, mental health difficulties and mental health conditions
  • Myths and misconceptions about mental health conditions
  • Awareness of possible job accommodations for employees who have: Depression, Schizophrenia, Anxiety

The workplace is a key setting in promoting positive mental health and as employers in the Public Service, we aim to achieve real equality of opportunity by continuously monitoring our employment practices to ensure we can attract, retain, develop and engage a diverse high performing workforce to deliver Public Service objectives.

There are a number of initiatives and organisations across the Civil and Public Service that aims to promote and support positive mental health including the HSE, Mental Health Ireland and the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform’s Civil Service Employee Assistance Service.
