Bloomsday is celebrated on the 16th of June depicting the day of Leopold Bloom, the central character in James Joyce’s book Ulysses.

Joyce has inspired generations of literature lovers and Bloomsday has become an international
event. The first Bloomsday took place in 1954
and since then the world famous literary street carnival has grown in popularity.

Today, Bloomsday is celebrated across the globe through readings, re-enactments and performances.
