Verbal Reasoning

The Verbal Reasoning Test measures the ability to understand written passages and the logical evaluation of an argument.

In this test you are presented with a range of passages, each of which is followed by several statements. Your task is to evaluate the statements in the light of the information or opinions contained in the passage and to select your answer according to the rules given below.

  • Click Box A if the statement is TRUE given the information in the passage
  • Click Box B if the statement is FALSE given the information in the passage
  • Click Box C if you cannot say whether the statement is true or false without further information.

There are 4 passages altogether, each with 4 associated statements. Once you have completed the questions relevant to each passage, click on "continue" to proceed to the next passage and it's associated questions. Once you have completed all 16 questions, you may view your results and the explanations for each answer.

It is important to note that these practice questions are not timed [ the 'real' Verbal Reasoning' tests carried out by the Public Appointments Service would be subject to time constraints].
