Biography
I’m from Dublin. When I finished school, I completed a degree in Sociology and Political Science in Trinity and I then completed a Masters in Sociology in UCD. After a little bit of time working in the media, I joined the civil service as an Administration Officer in 2007. Since then, I have worked in a variety of roles – in the Irish Youth Justice Service, in the European Structural Funds Policy Unit of the Department of Finance, in the Government Press Office in the Department of the Taoiseach, and in the Policing Division and the Press Office in the Department of Justice and Equality.
Role:
The role of a Press Officer and other communications role includes representing their organisation to the media and communicating the departments objectives internally and externally. As a press officer or member of the communications team in the Civil and Public Service, you may be required to:
- Answer queries and questions from the media.
- Produce proactive and positive media campaigns.
- Attend press conferences and interviews.
- Run and organise social media campaigns.
- Carry out media related duties.
Salary:
€23, 171-€45,793
Salary rises on yearly increments depending on performance and other terms and conditions.
