Africa Day is an annual worldwide celebration of the people, cultures and potential of this wonderful continent. It is a chance for people to come together and celebrate the diversity of Africa.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) organises a programme of events each year to mark Africa Day.
We took part in the Africa Day celebrations at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham on Sunday, 21 May. It was an opportunity for us to share job opportunities and welcome more African talent into the public service. publicjobs.ie plays a central role in recruiting diverse talent to take up public service employment opportunities. As recruiters and employers, we recognise and value the importance of attracting and welcoming a workforce that is responsive, accessible, resilient, and reflective of the communities it serves.
We recruit a diversity of people for the public service with the talent, character and commitment to deliver for Ireland. We believe that a thriving, inclusive public service that is energised by the contribution of employees from all sectors of society leads to more innovative, productive workplaces and more responsive and inclusive policies, programmes and services.
This great family day out showcased the very best of African talent and celebrated the growing links between Ireland and Africa. This year will see the biggest ever Africa Day celebrations in Ireland, with 30 local authorities around the country hosting a variety of events in their communities.
Thanks to our volunteers for helping out on the day!
